In many families sibling rivalry is an ever-present part of how brothers and sisters interact with each other. Some families have one great one, others are all great, and in Montana 1948, readers can clearly see this between David’s father Wes, and his uncle Frank. On the outside, it seems like Frank is the great one. He’s a doctor, a war hero, and he was a star athlete. None of these great attributes can be attested to Wes. Here is a perfect example where it appears that one family has a better child. To an third party, Frank was great yet Wes was good. There was nothing wrong with Wes, but he’s just not as great as his brother is. There are many families where one of the kids is perfect; there are families in town where this is present. This doesn’t mean that the other children are bad, but it definitely causes animosity between the children.
Many siblings fight, but how to prevent fighting is the real problem. One tactic listed among some in article Family Feud written by Denise Henry is that siblings must know they will outgrow the animosity sooner or later and that blood is thicker than water (Henry 2008). I know this from personal experience since I have a younger brother who is fourteen. He and I used to fight constantly about to most ridiculously idiotic things. Then, we just became chill with each other. We just stopped being stupid and realized that were the only brothers we have; he is my best friend in the whole world. I would not trade anything on this earth from him. In Montana 1948, the two brothers Frank and Wes are grown men who don’t appear to be that close. Frank was a star athlete, a war hero, and doctor while Wes; the town sheriff never did anything that can be considered as great as his brother’s accomplishment. Although there does not seem to be any friction between the two, they are grown men and respect each other very much. They have outgrown the childish sibling feuding and have grown to respect each other. They might not be the best of friends but there is no visible animosity. As kids grow up, they mature. An immature relationship between siblings in childhood almost never lasts. If someone on the street was asked who their best friend is, there is a high probability they will say their brother or sister, because there the only ones they will ever have.
These two paragraphs are two similar types of paragraphs used by students. The first paragraph, an essay type paragraph is how a simple five paragraph essay should be. It starts off with a topic sentence linking to the thesis, and then it provides an example with analysis and then a conclusion. Its a fairly straightforward design and easily recognizable. On the other hand, the second paragraph does not have a set design of how the paragraph should be structured because a research paper may require more than five paragraphs. All a good research paragraph needs are these simple steps. A topic linking ot the main idea or thesis, what you find in your research should be explained with analysis and then link the book to your research with a second analysis. This may be done more than once to get your point across. In the end, there needs to be a conclusion summing it all up.

NOT GUILTY

Guilt is a feeling that people tend to feel when they do something that isn’t exactly moral, legal, or simply something you regret. Someone who does something that they don’t necessarily agree with, they feel guilty about it. Most people feel guilty if they steal from another person, or even kill someone. I guess I’m not most people. I can’t say I’ve ever felt guilt about anything. Honestly, I have never felt guilty about doing something bad in my life, and I’ve done some pretty bad stuff. Guilt has never played an important factor in my life.
In Macbeth on the other hand, guilt drives Macbeth practically insane. The most notable instance of guilt are the many hallucinations he had. Fearing that his kingship was in jeopardy, ordered his best friend and son to be killed. Even though it was what he wanted, there was certainly some internal conflict for Macbeth. This is why after the deed had been done, he saw Banquo’s ghost during the feast. This represents how he feels guilty about having his best friend killed and it might not be what he truly wanted.
In the Star Wars saga, the main protagonist Anakin Skywalker kills an entire village of sand people because they kidnapped his mother. He not only kills the men, but the women and children too. This causes an incredible amount of internal conflict within Anakin. This guilt makes Anakin’s conscience an incredibly angry one. Although it was not the sole reason, the anger eventually led Anakin to turn to the Dark Side and become Darth Vader. Darth Vader is one of the most ruthless movie villains of all time, and if you think about it, it’s only because he’s guilty.

Feminism Ain't What It Used To Be

In today’s world, you really don’t see too many staunch feminists, mainly because women have attained equal right to men. You never see people picketing, screaming for women’s rights because women have these rights. In today’s world most feminists try to protect the rights of women, rather than attain them. They insure that women are treated properly since they now have these equal rights. This is good because everyone is equal in this world and women, who are held to a double standard, know this all to well. In many cases if a guy is a great athlete, people will consider him cool and want to be their friend just because he’s a great athlete. If a girl is a great athlete, people will call her a “dykey” athlete. This is just one example of the double standards in today’s world.
It doesn’t help that people like Paris Hilton and Britney Spears running around. These two idiots are the biggest disgrace on the face of the earth. They are a great case of when stupid people get too much money. Girl should not look up to women like them, rather women like Christina Aguilera and Scarlett Johansson. These two women are never centered on some controversy and are talented, beautiful, and successful. They are good role models for young girls.
I think Lady Macbeth show poor characteristics of women. She is very sneaky and deceptive in her ways, and she controls her husband. Without her, he would not be king, but he would be much less stressed and probably happier. I know that a controlling woman can get really annoying at times. Although she does appear to love her husband, her manipulation will eventually lead to disaster.

Socratic Seminar Thoughts and Feelings

After listening to yesterday's socratic seminar, I have a few points I would like to make. First off, I really like the play and it is my favorite Shakespeare play I've read so far. I think it has an exciting plot and you never really know what might happen. Matt said that Lady Macbeth is reall the mastermind behind Macbeth's actions and this is something i agree with fully. Without her, he would not have pursued the kingship and would not have killed King Duncan. It is said that behind every man, there is a woman, and this is a perfect example. She manipulated him and convinced him to do her biddings. I don't think that Lady Macbeth is a feminist in the sense of the word. She is a strong willed woman, but she is not campaigning for equal rights and things like that. That is why I wouldn't say that she is a feminist.
Ok I hate Paris Hilton with passion. I think that she is the world's biggest idoit and she dosnt deserve anything that was handed to her. She goes out and parties every single day, then people call her cool. She is not cool. She is what women should aspire not to be, which is a complete joke. If you ask what she does, people may she is a singer or an actress. That is a joke. Her music sucks and she's been in one real movie, House of Wax, and it sucks. Paris Hilton is pathetic.

Yo Ho, Yo Ho A Pirates Life for Me

If you look throughout history, the coolest bunch of outlaws that ever roamed the seas, were undoubtedly pirates. If you look closer at Pirates, you might find that some of these outlaws were actually good men. In the Walt Disney franchise, Pirates of the Caribbean, all of the pirates in the movie do some pretty terrible things to each other. In the second film The Dead Man's Chest, Will Turner discovers that his father is alive aboard Davy Jones' ship. From this point on in the series, Will is determined to save his fathers soul at any price. He ventures into Davey Jones' Locker to rescue Captain Jack Sparrow and his ship, the The Black Pearl, and once he does so, betrays Jack, leads a mutiny on the Pearl, and steals the Pearl for himself. Once Jack is handed over to the enemy, Lord Cutler Beckett, he turns around and betrays ALL the pirates just so he can get a show at immortality. While being rescued Jack learns that if he stabs the heart of Davey Jones, he will become immortal. Since he had already died once, immortality sounded pretty good to him. Jack offers to hand over every single pirate for his own freedom. The deal is done and in the end they all get what they want and reconcile their differences but for a good time, they were bitter enemies. These actions were simply what they needed at the time being. If they had thought it through more wisely, they might have not have had to betray each other.
Similarly, in Macbeth, he does not want to kill King Duncan but his wife, Lady Macbeth convinces him otherwise. She pretty much guilts him into killing the king by saying she'd rather kill her own baby than say you will do something and not doing it. It is this guilt that finally convinces him to kill the king. Just because your wife is nagging you to do something doesn't mean you should go right ahead and do it. Macbeth just gave in to his wife's demands demonstrating his weakness of character.
